Syracuse University
I began my graduate studies at Syracuse University (SU) in the Fall of 2006, when I was admitted to the Department of Sociology. I earned my Masters in Sociology in 2008 and a Ph.D. in 2012. SU is a private university with a long history of academic excellence and community engagement. The Department of Sociology is part of the prestigious Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
During my time at SU I had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented academics in the field including the renowned postmodern theorist Dr. Jackie Orr and pioneering institutional ethnographer Dr. Marjorie DeVault. I gained experience conducting research both independently and as part of a team. I also had the opportunity to teach frequently. Committee work is part of the responsibility for graduate students at SU and I served on the executive boards of the Academic Integrity Committee and the acclaimed Future Professoriate Program. Additionally, I was active presenting at national conferences and working hard on papers for publication. Syracuse University will always have a special place in my heart.
