Greetings! I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Gettysburg College. I put together this website so that you can learn a little about my interests as a scholar and teacher.
I specialize in the intersections of digital culture and online behavior, sociological theory, gender and sexuality, and social inequality. My scholarship explores the implications of the integration and normalization of online communication technologies in the lives of Gen Z. My current work seeks to understand the impact of online surveillance on research participants’ perceptions of privacy, individual identity representation, and group affiliation.
As a first-generation academic, I am committed to supporting the experiences and needs of first-generation and other historically marginalized students. I believe that public scholarship, especially on topics such as this, is extremely important. That is why I seek out opportunities to share my experiences and expertise. Society is best when all voices are heard.
I am often asked what I enjoy most in my career. Simply put, I love both teaching and research! I take pride as students gain knowledge and learn to use their critical thinking skills. I believe in a pedagogical approach that emphasizes a collaborative discussion based learning environment. Check out my Teaching Philosophy and Materials pages to learn more.
On this site, you can find a bit of everything about my academic career. If that is not enough, feel free to Contact Me.
Enjoy your visit!
